I’m just going to post the video of the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event from last night and say that I am 100% ON BOARD THIS HYPE TRAIN. I preordered my Ultimate Collector’s Edition and everything. I wonder if I can beat XIII-2 and Lightning Returns before September 30th. I’m not a fan of playing games out of order, even when they’re completely unrelated…
I streamed Final Fantasy XIV and Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix on my Twitch channel last night. I really missed chatting with my friends on Twitch. I don’t have a lot of viewers, but the ones I have are fun to talk to and I really enjoy hanging out with them. I don’t have a lot of opportunities to talk about video games in my current every day environment. My desire to talk about games with other gamers is what inspired me to stream on Twitch in the first place.
I went back to my old metal underwear glamour in FFXIV. It’s so much easier to match my outfit when I’m wearing so little. The trickiest part was finding shoes to match…
Today in Game/Nerd News:
One of two new ads leaked for Final Fantasy XV. Yoshitaka Amano art in 3D OMG! ❤ There’s an announcement event tonight at 4 PM Hawaii time, so you better believe I’ll be watching.
Here’s the second, which shows a new demo coming. My friend told me that apparently, you need to beat this demo to get a certain summon in the final release of the game. No way to get it otherwise. Nifty!
April is coming up, so here are the free games you can get with XBOX Live Gold and PS+. Microsoft is definitely better this month, I think, although as usual, I will get them all just to have them:
- Sunset Overdrive (One)
- The Wolf Among Us (One)
- Dead Space (360)
- Saints Row 4 (360)
- Dead Star (PS4)
- Zombi (PS4)
- I Am Alive (PS3)
- Savage Moon (PS3)
- A Virus Named Tom (Vita)
- Shutshimi (Vita)
Tonight on Twitch:
Again I’m going to start with Final Fantasy XIV and then move on to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. I’m going to move some stuff around on my desk so that I can place my microphone further away from the television. Dialog in KH was being picked up by the mic, which is probably annoying. I can’t hear it, but my viewers can. I’ve also decided to have a guide up on my other computer monitor while I play KH because while I don’t feel the need to 100% it, I want to get as much stuff as I can. There’s also a chance that I may play the new Final Fantasy XV demo that is rumored to be available later today. We’ll see…
So my baby sister was visiting from NYC last week. In true form, she couldn’t wait to give me my birthday gift, even though my birthday isn’t until April. She’s always been like this. Christmas was always funny when we were kids because she’d tell us what she got us waaaaaaaay before. She’s a little better about it now, but she still couldn’t wait. 😀
My sister knows that in addition to video games, I love playing table top games. There’s something about playing a board game, card game, or role playing game with people in the same room. So to make that experience even funner (yes, I know that’s not a word, but I don’t care), she bought me these:
They’re scents from Adventure Scents! She got me three different scents to go along with different game environments.
Steam Train, which is perfect for Trains or Ticket to Ride.
Dragon’s Cave, which is perfect for any fantasy role playing game or Dungeon Quest.
And Dank Dungeon, also perfect for Dungeon Quest and other fantasy games involving dungeons.
After looking at the list of scents, I seriously want to buy the rest of them. I wish the internet had Smell-O-Vision or something. They’re really interesting! Dank Dungeon gets the musty aroma spot on, Dragon’s Cave has some cinder going on, and Steam Train definitely smells like a steam engine in a way. But on top of reminding you of these locales, they’re also pleasant. (I’m told that Moldy Crypt smells gross, but I won’t know until I buy it.)
My sisters are great. They always find me the coolest shit. I still use the NERD bag my other sister bought me to hold my dice.
In other news, my husband woke up at 4 AM Hawaii time and pre-ordered our Playstation VR. That’s how I know he loves me. He gets up at retarded hours of the morning for stuff like this. 😉
Nintendo is launching their Miitomo app in the West on Thursday. We’ll see if Nintendo is on their way to actually having non-shitty DRM, but I’m not holding my breath. It irritates me to no end that it’s so complicated for me to buy a game from Nintendo and keep it. If I upgrade systems or anything like that, I have to jump through stupid amounts of hoops to keep access to that content. I hate it. SO. MUCH.
Tonight on Twitch:
Last night was reset in Final Fantasy XIV, so tonight I’ll be doing roulettes and all that good stuff so I don’t get any further behind. I’m already so behind…/sigh. After I do that, I’m going to start a play through of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix. I need cheering up and Disney ALWAYS makes me feel better. Hope to see you tonight!
I have a lot on my mind right now and I need the gaming equivalent of a comfort food. I’m going to call that a Comfort Game even though that sounds weird. While I’m tempted to play a game that I’ve played already and I know I love, I also want to try and attack my backlog list. So I think I’m going to play Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix. Technically, I’ve beaten Kingdom Hearts, but not Final Mix, Re: Chain of Memories, or 358/2 Days. On top of that, Disney is one of my favorite things in the universe. It’s up there with Star Trek and video games. I really need something that will take me to a happy place and to me Disneyland really IS the “Happiest Place on Earth.” Disney + Final Fantasy = LOVE. ❤
I will continue to play Final Fantasy XIV Online every evening, as well, so that I can cap my tomestones and red scrips.. But I need something to make me smile. This should do the trick. 🙂
I’ll be back to a regular streaming schedule tomorrow. I’ve missed it this past week and I look forward to hanging out.
I haven’t really played a video game in three days… It sucks. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE hanging out with my sister. I love my sisters. They’re awesome. OMG! I TOTALLY FORGOT! Okay, I need to take a picture of the early birthday gift she gave me! In keeping with her nature, should just COULDN’T wait. My birthday isn’t until April, but since she was visiting now, she wanted to give me my gift now. She’s never been able to keep secrets and stuff when it came to birthday and Christmas gifts. She’s 35 years old now and is still just as silly about it as when she was little. ❤ Anyway, I will post the gift tomorrow. Seriously, it’s SO COOL.
I also really need a haircut. I really hate photos of myself because I think I look weird (kinda makes me wonder why I Twitch… hahaha!), but I have no screenshots to share… I AM getting a haircut on Saturday, though. Thank goodness. This actually interferes with my ability to see the screen and stuff when gaming or working. I push it to the side, but it falls in front again.
There’s a launch trailer for Dark Souls III because it released in Japan already. I don’t know if this is spoilerific or not. It just looks like a lot of fighting monsters to me, but in case it is, you’ve been warned. (Personally, I don’t care about spoilers. Video games, books, movies… You can’t ruin a good experience for me. I’ll still play/read/watch them even if I know what’s going to happen. Pretty sure I’m in the minority on this…)
Kotaku has an interesting piece about the fact that many professional streamers have gotten their pre-release copy of this game already and they’re streaming it on Twitch and YouTube. Some gamers are pissed off about this. Bandai Namco is now claiming that the Japanese version of the game isn’t complete. If I was a Japanese consumer, that statement would probably piss me off… Hmm. Are they making things better or worse by making that statement? Personally, waiting doesn’t bother me, but I get why people are upset. It’s like having something you want being dangled in front of your face with no way to reach out and grab it. I sometimes fantasize about being a professional streamer and getting games early, but I’m cool with waiting. It’s not like I don’t have anything else to play… 😛
I’m debating picking this up for the XBOX One. It’s coming out on the Playstation Vita next month. To stream or not to stream? That is the question…
Hmm… It seems like it would be better on Vita, but my poor XBOX One gets no love!
Disney is one of my favorite things in the universe. It’s up there with Final Fantasy, Star Trek, and James Bond. This is our first look at Idris Elba as Shere Khan in the new Jungle Book movie. I have to admit that this wasn’t really on my radar because I loved the animated musical version of this story so much. But after watching this clip, I want to watch it.
Entertainment Weekly released this nifty new photo of Wonder Woman and the warrior women responsible for training her. I loved Wonder Woman as a child. I watched the Lynda Carter television show religiously and ran around in my Wonder Woman Underoos all the time, fighting bad guys and flying in an imaginary invisible plane. I’m looking forward to this movie, although I’m terrified that they’re going to fuck it up. Still, I will watch it. She is probably my favorite superhero. Well, she’s tied with the Hulk…
Retro game fans, Atari Vault is now available on Steam. There are 100 games in this complication. Watching this trailer reminded me just HOW FAR gaming has come. It’s really kind of amazing if you think about it. Sometimes I’m still in wonder and awe when I play games today. What a great time to be a gamer!
I can’t think of a title for today’s post… Probably because I didn’t really game last night and there’s no earth-shattering game news today. My husband and I went on a spontaneous date last night and tried out a new restaurant at Ala Moana Shopping Center called Cafe Lani. They have all-you-can-eat bread, which sounds like a bad idea (and it IS in a way), but it’s so delicious, who cares? When we got home, I was so tired and full that I played Okage: Shadow King on my PS4 for about a half hour before going to sleep.
So Nintendo is saying that they’re NOT halting production on the WiiU by the end of the year. Whatever. Honestly, I just wish Nintendo would say SOMETHING. Is the NX going to be backwards compatible? What is it? When is the target launch? Gamers like to plan ahead, you know? Yes, I know I’m being an entitled brat.
Microsoft has added Dark Souls and Tekken Tournament 2 to the XBOX One backwards compatibility list. WHERE THE FUCK IS SKYRIM? To be fair, though, I bought a capture device specifically so that I could stream ALL my consoles to Twitch, so I don’t really NEED it…
That’s it for game news that I care about. Slow news day… I’m heading to my parents’ house for dinner with my sister tonight, so no stream tonight.
I’m a big fan of menu sound effects. Games like Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts often use the same sound effects when navigating menus. Something about hearing those little beeps and blips really excites me! ❤ Yeah, okay, I’m weird.
So anyway, Square Enix announced today that Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is being released in the West on PS4 this summer. It will have both English and Japanese voices. Here are a shit ton of trailers for your viewing pleasure:
The following trailers are in Japanese, but cover game systems such as Private Actions, Party Skills, Item Creation, and the Battle System. My Japanese is sufficient to get the general idea, but I’m not capable of translating. Sorry! Still, you can watch them and get an idea even without translations…
Lots of blips and beeps in there. I’m so excited!
The other big news item today is the report that Nintendo is going to stop WiiU production this year and will make an announcement about their new system, the NX, later this year. There aren’t a whole lot of details besides that, so we’ll just have to wait and see what they announce. In my opinion, Nintendo is one of the most connect and disconnected companies from their consumers at the SAME DAMNED TIME. It’s weird and I seriously don’t know how they manage to have their head buried in the sand while still making (some) games that Nintendo fans REALLY want. It’s a special kind of talent, I suppose…
I somehow managed to cap Lore in FFXIV last night. That makes me happy. Now I just need to cap gathering red scrips. Not sure if I’m going to succeed, though, since I’ll be hanging out with my sister instead of playing games and reset is tomorrow night at 10 PM.
If we don’t go out for dinner tonight, there’s a chance that I’ll stream, but I’m really not sure what’s going on. My sister’s first flight was delayed by FOUR HOURS, so she missed her connecting flight. She was supposed to arrive last night, but she JUST arrived a few minutes ago, so plans are totally up in the air. Also, I can’t even imagine how PISSED she must be right now. Yikes!
