A Quick Update

I’m really having a rough time finding a balance between work, school, and my free time. Honestly, I think the problem is that I don’t really have any free time right now. However, my video games and my Twitch channel are really important to me, so I’m determined to MAKE time for them. I am going to have to start small, so for now, I’m going to commit to streaming once a week. I’ve updated my schedule page to reflect this. I’ve put “Maybe?” on Sundays because I’d really like to do more, but I can’t promise anything right now.

Between work, school, and the state of this country, I always feel so exhausted. It should come as no surprise that since I’m a non-white feminist, I am absolutely disgusted with the goings-on in the White House right now. So I need my virtual worlds where my actions affect the outcomes because I sure as hell feel pretty damned helpless right now.

Tonight I’ll be playing FFXIV. The Mhachi raids are on the agenda and anything else I can fit in before I have to go to sleep. I finally got MNK to 60, so now I’m working on SMN/SCH. My goal is to have everything at 60 by the time the Stormblood expansion releases. I’m at 16/23, so we’ll see how that goes…

  1. I know how you feel as a feminist right now. SIGH. I’ve just been playing Dragon Age to play in a world where men and women are basically equal and forget that it’s not real life right now. What’s your favorite part of FFXIV so far?

    • Ah, I loved Dragon Age. I even loved the second one. Unfortunately, the third one is still on my backlog list. I really need to get working on that. It’s just getting longer and longer… LOL

As for my favorite part of FFXIV, that’s a really good question! I’ve always been a huge fan of the FF series, with FFVI being one of my absolute favorite games of all time. And then ever since I was introduced to the original EverQuest in 2000, I’ve absolutely adored MMO’s. So it kinda follows that I’d love FFXIV. (I loved FFXI, too, although not as much as XIV.) The story, the chocobos and moogles… Just all the hat tips to other FF things make XIV so great. And yet, the story can stand on its own, as well.

On a more personal note, I’ve always focused on MMO content that was more solo friendly. I played WoW since its release, but I steered clear of most group content because I’m terribly shy in online environments. So when I started playing FFXIV when it first released, I pretty much only did group content with real life friends and I didn’t even touch anything close to a raid. But because I love FF stuff so much, I really wanted to experience more so I made the decision to step out of my comfort zone and play with others. It was pretty terrifying and I still get super nervous, but now I use the Duty Finder and I stream on Twitch. I never would have done that before! 🙂 I feel like I owe it to FFXIV for helping me address my online social anxiety, so I love it for that, as well.

How about you? Do you play FFXIV?

      • I’ve been meaning to get FFXIV and been reading good things so far about it! I just need to find the time and money to go get it. xD As to thethird Dragon Age… YOU NEED TO PLAY. lol It’s sooooo good. Much better than the second one and feels like a true sequel to the first. I love MMOs too, I played WoW for a long time (tank warrior) and I’m not playing ESO. I’m glad to see you growing out of yours ocial anxiety a bit. If you’re up for it, I’d love to get you writing on our platform, creators.co. You can get more traction and veiws there. Email me sometime and I can tell you more about it, Dana@creators.co.
