Star Trek Starfleet Ships of the Line Shirt

I really like Forever 21. Their constant rotation of styles plus their cheap prices are hard to resist. I have friends who give me a hard time about shopping there because I’m supposedly “too old” to be buying clothes there, but while it’s true that you wouldn’t catch me dead in a lot of their stuff (short-ass-hanging-out-shorts, I’m looking at you), there is a lot of nice, cute, tasteful stuff in there. When I go to the women’s sections of most department stores, they’re also filled with stuff you wouldn’t catch me dead in because I refuse to look like a middle-aged woman, thank you very much! As a side note, I REALLY HATE being in this in-between stage for clothing. I don’t want to wear the super young styles, but I don’t want to look like my older female relatives yet, either… /sigh

ANYWAY… Forever 21 often has pop culture reference clothing. You know, stuff like Hello Kitty or Disney shirts, sports team pajama bottoms, 80’s-style t-shirts, and the like. So when I went into the store in Waikiki, wearing my 45th Anniversary Star Trek shirt, one of the salespeople said, “Oh, did you see our Star Trek shirt?” Of course, I couldn’t resist. Star Trek is one of my favorite things in the universe! As you can see from the photo, it’s that cut-off sleeves 80’s t-shirt style which works really well with layering. I’m not 100% sure if I’ll actually ever wear it. Not because of the style, but because it’s shiny and I don’t want it to fade…

Star Trek Into Darkness Starfleet Phaser Limited Edition Gift Set

I’m a huge Trekkie. My favorite series is the Original Series, although I love everything Star Trek. Personally, I had a problem with Into Darkness. It was a good and enjoyable movie, but it wasn’t Star Trek. But whatever. Like my indiscriminate love of Final Fantasy, if it says Star Trek on it, I have to have it. And even if I thought the movie was terrible, this thing COMES WITH A PHASER!!!!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!? So my set came from Amazon on Tuesday. I didn’t totally unwrap the phaser because I don’t have any place to display it right now, but you get the idea. Now that I have the movie, I’ll have to watch it again. This is the only Star Trek movie that has come out since 1990 that I only saw ONE TIME in the theater.

Latest Addition to Our Blu-ray Collection

IMG_20130830_175609

Blu-rays can be rather expensive. My husband keeps a wishlist or something on Amazon and checks periodically for sales. Last week, seasons 2 and 3 of Star Trek: The Next Generation were on sale for $49.99 apiece, so we snapped them up. Their MSRP is $129.99, so we saved $80. Of course, hardly anywhere actually sells them at the MSRP, but they usually go for about $80, so we saved around $30. That’s enough to buy at least two more Blu-ray movies on sale. Our collection isn’t nearly as large as our DVD collection and we don’t have any intention to replace ALL our DVDs with Blu-rays, but there are some things we just HAVE to have. Star Trek is one of them.
