Some JRPG News

Persona 5 has a release date! In Japan, anyway… /sigh I want this game SO BAD. Look at this trailer! Look! OMG.

I love all the weird, creepy shit and the cel shaded graphics. And the music! Persona always has the best music!

Here’s more footage of gameplay. I love the demons. ❤

In other news, people are playing the Japanese version of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. While Famitsu gave it a decent score (34/40), people are rating it as kind of meh. Here’s the thing, though. I’ve never played a JRPG based on what other people said. A lot of comments I’ve read indicate that the game is more like 3 than 4. I’m not really sure why that’s a BAD thing. I hated 4. So that’s how I know that I need to make these decisions for myself. I am still looking forward to this game, regardless of the opinion of others.

I finally played the Platinum Demo for Final Fantasy XV. I know, I know… Took me long enough, right? I spent just under an hour on it. I am just as hyped for that game as ever. I know some people complained that the demo was basically a tech demo, but that’s really what I liked about it. It gave me a feel for what the game is going to feel like when it actually comes out.

I spent a few more hours in Dark Souls III, but haven’t gotten to the next boss yet. I keep getting impatient and then careless. Of course, this makes me die. But I’m getting more practice at dodging and all that good stuff, so it’s worth it. I really do find this game to be pretty. Just look at that mighty dragon…

I’m also making good progress in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix. I just googled how to take screenshots on the PS3, so I’ll try to remember to start doing that… (Of course, there’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to screenshot. It’s some kind of coding thing, apparently, that developers can choose to turn on/off.)

Tonight on Twitch, I’m hoping to play some Final Fantasy XIV and then possibly more Kingdom Hearts if I have time. The problem is that I’m trying to get my Anima weapon completed, so I need to do beastman daily quests, daily hunts, and dungeons for tomestones. This is extremely time consuming. But if I’m going to be viable to my raid group when I get back from vacation, I need a better weapon. Period. I’m going to be away from the game for almost  two weeks, so I’m going to fall even further behind than I already am. On the up side… Once I get back from my vacation, I probably won’t be able to afford to go anywhere for awhile, so my streaming schedule won’t get interrupted! XD

Come by and say hi!

Happy Birthday to Me! LOL XD

I have to admit that I’m always somewhat disappointed that when I was young, reckless, and rebellious, I had NO IDEA that my birthday fell on Pot Day. 😛 Now that I don’t do that stuff anymore (although I probably would if I lived in a legal state), I feel like I just didn’t ever celebrate my birthday properly! Hahahaha!

Now I have video games and this past week or so has been a good week for those! On Friday, I picked up my Bravely Second: End Layer Collector’s Edition:

And then on Monday, my Dark Souls III Collector’s Edition finally arrived in the mail from Amazon. (Side note: Why does it take almost 5 days for Amazon to SHIP something when you preorder it MONTHS in advance?)

In other news, I finally glamoured my Crafting and Gathering classes. I spent hours looking at pictures to try and get ideas, but I just couldn’t come up with anything I liked. So I just did this:

I also took another (hopefully better) picture of my Kongamato mount. Somehow I miss daylight hours in this game, so that’s why so many of my pictures are dark. I really need to pay better attention to the Eorzea clock!

Not much else is going on today. I’m at work until 5. And then I have dinner reservations with my husband at 7. Then drinks afterward with one of my good friends. I took tomorrow off so that I can sleep in and enjoy tonight. 😀

No stream tonight, but I’ll be back tomorrow.

Final Fantasy XV HYPE

I’m just going to post the video of the Final Fantasy XV Uncovered event from last night and say that I am 100% ON BOARD THIS HYPE TRAIN. I preordered my Ultimate Collector’s Edition and everything. I wonder if I can beat XIII-2 and Lightning Returns before September 30th. I’m not a fan of playing games out of order, even when they’re completely unrelated…

It’s Good to Be Back

I streamed Final Fantasy XIV and Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix on my Twitch channel last night. I really missed chatting with my friends on Twitch. I don’t have a lot of viewers, but the ones I have are fun to talk to and I really enjoy hanging out with them. I don’t have a lot of opportunities to talk about video games in my current every day environment. My desire to talk about games with other gamers is what inspired me to stream on Twitch in the first place.

I went back to my old metal underwear glamour in FFXIV. It’s so much easier to match my outfit when I’m wearing so little. The trickiest part was finding shoes to match…

Today in Game/Nerd News:

One of two new ads leaked for Final Fantasy XV. Yoshitaka Amano art in 3D OMG! ❤ There’s an announcement event tonight at 4 PM Hawaii time, so you better believe I’ll be watching.

Here’s the second, which shows a new demo coming. My friend told me that apparently, you need to beat this demo to get a certain summon in the final release of the game. No way to get it otherwise. Nifty!

April is coming up, so here are the free games you can get with XBOX Live Gold and PS+. Microsoft is definitely better this month, I think, although as usual, I will get them all just to have them:

  • Sunset Overdrive (One)
  • The Wolf Among Us (One)
  • Dead Space (360)
  • Saints Row 4 (360)
  • Dead Star (PS4)
  • Zombi (PS4)
  • I Am Alive (PS3)
  • Savage Moon (PS3)
  • A Virus Named Tom (Vita)
  • Shutshimi (Vita)

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is releasing on June 28th and there’s a Day One Edition. I’m excited!

Tonight on Twitch:

Again I’m going to start with Final Fantasy XIV and then move on to Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. I’m going to move some stuff around on my desk so that I can place my microphone further away from the television. Dialog in KH was being picked up by the mic, which is probably annoying. I can’t hear it, but my viewers can. I’ve also decided to have a guide up on my other computer monitor while I play KH because while I don’t feel the need to 100% it, I want to get as much stuff as I can. There’s also a chance that I may play the new Final Fantasy XV demo that is rumored to be available later today. We’ll see…

Star Ocean 5 This Summer!!!

I’m a big fan of menu sound effects. Games like Star Ocean, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts often use the same sound effects when navigating menus. Something about hearing those little beeps and blips really excites me! ❤ Yeah, okay, I’m weird.

So anyway, Square Enix announced today that Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is being released in the West on PS4 this summer. It will have both English and Japanese voices. Here are a shit ton of trailers for your viewing pleasure:

The following trailers are in Japanese, but cover game systems such as Private Actions, Party Skills, Item Creation, and the Battle System. My Japanese is sufficient to get the general idea, but I’m not capable of translating. Sorry! Still, you can watch them and get an idea even without translations…

Lots of blips and beeps in there. I’m so excited!

The other big news item today is the report that Nintendo is going to stop WiiU production this year and will make an announcement about their new system, the NX, later this year. There aren’t a whole lot of details besides that, so we’ll just have to wait and see what they announce. In my opinion, Nintendo is one of the most connect and disconnected companies from their consumers at the SAME DAMNED TIME. It’s weird and I seriously don’t know how they manage to have their head buried in the sand while still making (some) games that Nintendo fans REALLY want. It’s a special kind of talent, I suppose…

I somehow managed to cap Lore in FFXIV last night. That makes me happy. Now I just need to cap gathering red scrips. Not sure if I’m going to succeed, though, since I’ll be hanging out with my sister instead of playing games and reset is tomorrow night at 10 PM.

If we don’t go out for dinner tonight, there’s a chance that I’ll stream, but I’m really not sure what’s going on. My sister’s first flight was delayed by FOUR HOURS, so she missed her connecting flight. She was supposed to arrive last night, but she JUST arrived a few minutes ago, so plans are totally up in the air. Also, I can’t even imagine how PISSED she must be right now. Yikes!

I’ve connected my Twitch account to Twitter, though, so now when I go live, a message will show up on Twitter.

Playstation VR Bundle

Sony has announced a Playstation VR bundle that will be available for preorder on March 22, 2016. It includes the PSVR, two Move Controllers, the Playstation Camera, and a copy of Playstation VR Worlds. From what I’ve seen on various gaming news websites, only the bundle will be available for preorder. You can’t preorder the standalone device. At least, not yet. I’m guessing they’ll make that available later. If I didn’t already own a camera, I’d definitely preorder. I’m wondering if I should trade in my current camera for $15 of credit and preorder anyway. I don’t own any Move Controllers. Hmm. I’m going to have to think about this… And what if my local Gamestop sells out of preorders before I can get to the store? Gah.

In other VR news, here’s some nifty footage of the Sword Art Online tech demo thing that IBM is doing in Japan this weekend. Pretty neat. 🙂 I would love to experience this.

We tried clearing A8 Normal again last night. Still didn’t succeed, but our attempts are getting smoother. Our problem now is the dps check during the last phase of the fight. We’ll get it. I believe!

I played a bunch more Kamen Rider Battride War Genesis and unlocked a whole slew of riders. My favorite to play right now is Gaim. His forms are fruits. His pineapple form is the most fun to play with a big pineapple on the end of a chain that he swings around and hits enemies with. Yeah, it’s completely ridiculous.

Speaking of Kamen Rider, this new Kamen Rider Amazons series coming to Amazon Prime Japan looks pretty sweet. Definitely more violent than the fun ones that are popular today. The original Kamen Rider Amazon is from 1974. He’s like a piranha and he bites his enemies or something. Creepy. This looks pretty creepy, too. 🙂

I’ve also been plodding away at The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on my PS Vita. I just started chapter 3. I can definitely see why it’s considered to be one of the best JRPG’s in the last decade. The more I play, the more I want to play. Unfortunately, I only play handheld games when I’m lying in bed before going to sleep or on my lunch break if I have time after writing my daily blog post. While the main character, Estelle, irritates the shit out of me, I’ve read more than once that part of the charm of this game is that she grows up somewhat during the course of the game. That is absolutely true. She still irritates me, but I’ve stopped wanting to hurl my Vita across the room because of her stupidity.

I have to remember that she’s only 16. I tend to put myself somewhat in the characters I play when I’m playing games, regardless of the type of game and 16 was a long time ago for me! But if I think back, I was definitely WAY worse than she is at that age. At least she has a goal and a purpose. When I was 16, I dropped out of my elite private school because I felt that the school was limiting and protecting me without teaching me about the outside world. I was angry, rebellious, and convinced that I didn’t need an education. I’m smarter than most people anyway! I can get a job and be awesome without that fucking school! Yeah, you can imagine how that went… XD

However, in my defense, I did what I felt passionately about, much like Estelle in this game. How many people can say that? Sure, that choice may have made certain things difficult, but I am who I am today because of the choices I made and I think I’m a pretty okay lady. And boy do I have some stories! We all grow and learn at different rates. I grew up eventually. Estelle will, too, I’m quite certain.

I can’t help but love this. I’m reminded that I’m COMPLETELY behind on Japanese pop and rock music. I haven’t watched Music Station or CDTV in MONTHS. I have no idea what’s popular in Japan right now and that’s BAD. Need more hours in the day…

I still play World of Warcraft once in awhile. Basically, whenever a new expansion comes out, I buy it and tackle the solo content and hit whatever the new level cap is. I currently have a level 100 Undead Warlock. I’ll be playing her again when Legion releases later this year. I love the lore. For the Horde!

Tonight on Twitch:

I’ll be working on Final Fantasy XIV and trying to unlock more riders in Kamen Rider. I should be starting around 8:00 PM Hawaii time. Hope to see you there!

Sundrop Dance! Playstation VR!

I am now Sworn with the Vanu Vanu beastmen! 🙂 I bought my second minion and the Sanuwa mount, but I forgot to take pictures. I keep forgetting to take pictures of stuff. I must be getting old… Haha, nah…

I DID take take pictures of the Sundrop Dance-Off cutscene, though! My dancing inspires my allies and strikes fear into the hearts of my enemies! I loved this. The quest was called “Nest Side Story.” 😉

We tried A8 Normal, but didn’t get a clear. We had to use the game to randomly assign two players to our party. That worked out kinda badly at one point. A boyfriend/girlfriend pair of DPS joined us and the girlfriend was really rude, so we kicked her. We found out the other DPS was her boyfriend after that. I felt kinda bad, but she was a bitch. He was nice, but of course after that he left, too. A couple of my Twitch viewers tried to queue in progress to help us out, but they didn’t get into our party. We waited for a long time to get replacement DPS. That was annoying since there were TWO PEOPLE specifically trying to get into my group! Square Enix really needs to have cross-server grouping. It doesn’t have to be cross-data center. I mean, the Duty Finder already assigns random people from your same data center to your party, so there’s GOT to be a way to make friends with people from those servers and play with them. We’re hoping to try again tonight.

Today in Game/Nerd News:

This is a great video released by Square Enix about the development process of flying mounts in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. They talk about fat chocobo. It’s funny. 😀

The Playstation VR is releasing in October and will cost $399. I’m happy we have a price now! Also, it’s good that it’s in October. I’ll have more time to save up for it! Hahaha! People are getting their panties in a twist about the fact that it requires the Playstation Camera. Their event specifically said that the camera works with the lights on the VR device to track movement. Also, the camera retails for $60 and is almost always on sale somewhere. If you’re looking for a gateway into VR gaming, the price of the system, the VR device, and the camera are right around the price of the Vive WITHOUT having to buy a $1000+ computer to run it. Not to mention, the PS VR will work with the PS4. Period. They’re designed to work together. My son has a really nice gaming computer and he often sends me text messages that the Rift is “a finicky little bitch” because it just doesn’t want to work right sometimes. The VR experience that Sony is selling is not the same as the one that Valve and Oculus are selling and that’s okay! I really think Sony has a chance to get VR into the mainstream. Then people will WANT to buy more expensive computers and Rifts/Vives to connect to them.

Aside from that, it’s a pretty slow news day. Apparently there’s going to be a new Indiana Jones movie and Harrison Ford is going to be in it.

Polygon’s got a piece about (supposedly) why I Am Setsuna isn’t getting a Vita release in the West. I call bullshit, quite frankly. This kind of game is NOT designed for large screens. It’s a homage to 90’s JRPG’s for fuck’s sake. /sigh Oh well. I’ll still play it.

I want to go to this Pokemon Center in Kyoto. I’ve been to one of the Tokyo ones. Pokemon Centers are pretty amazing. SO. MUCH. CUTE. EVERYWHERE.

Tonight on Twitch:

The plan is to do roulettes, beastman dailies, and clear A8 Normal. Then I’m hoping to switch to Bloodborne after I take a break for dinner, assuming it’s not super late… Come by and say hi! 🙂
